Wall Mounted Lighting Styles
At Outdoor and Garden Lighting Centre, we have a variety of styles and finishes to suit the aesthetic of your home, whether it’s a period property or a contemporary new-build home. Use our filters to select the style that suits your home.
Traditional
Our traditional outdoor wall light collections are designed for homeowners that would prefer a period aesthetic, rather than a contemporary feel. Traditional style wall lights are timeless and are often characterised by their aged bronze or copper finishes.
A popular classic wall light is the outdoor wall lantern lights, which we stock in a variety of traditional finishes including black, brass and bronze. These lanterns use modern technology, but are perfect for an older property and can be fitted to an exterior wall to create a homely ambience.
Modern & Contemporary
If you prefer modern outdoor wall lighting, then our range of lights in more modern stainless steel, white and grey finishes are perfect for a newly designed property.
Outdoor wall washer lights are frequently used by architects to emphasise the modern aesthetic. All of our modern garden lights are also able to be used with bright energy-efficient bulbs.
Up and Downlighters
If you’re looking brighten a focused area of your exterior, we have a range of wall mounted up and downlighters.
Our outdoor wall mounted uplighters help to highlight the beautiful features on your home exterior or elevated areas of your garden. Whereas a downlighter will illuminate a focused area of importance, such as a doorway.
A Range of Finishes
We also have a variety of finishes for our wall lights: including black outdoor lights, white, aged bronze and stainless steel, ensuring you’ll easily find an outdoor light to suit your home.
Outdoor Wall Lights With PIR Sensors
Motion sensor outdoor wall lights are popular for a variety of reasons. First and foremost they are a great security measure, as the PIR sensor can detect when a visitor has entered your property.
These automatic lights are very convenient for helping you navigate the exterior of your property without having to turn on a switch, meaning you don’t have to fumble around for the lock! Having a motion detector outdoor wall light also means you won’t waste electricity as they will remain off until they sense movement.
It’s not only our contemporary outdoor wall lights that have sensors. Many from our range of traditional style lights can also be fitted with a PIR sensor.
What Bulbs To Use
LED light bulbs are the go-to bulbs for both indoor and outdoor lighting. An LED bulb can last between 25,000 - 50,000 hours of continuous use and uses 75% less energy than a traditional incandescent bulb.
If you’re looking for a bright garden wall light, then LED is also the best choice, as these bulbs reach full luminosity almost immediately compared to others.
Water-Resistant Exterior Wall Lights
Ensuring that your wall-mounted garden lighting is weatherproof is very important, especially in the winter months. Weather changes, especially in England, means that exposed lights will need to endure rain, heat, snow, and particles carried by the wind.
All of our outdoor and garden wall lights are designated an Ingress Protection code, known as an IP code, which is a measure indicating how much the item is protected by the elements. The minimum required IP code to instal a light outside is IP 44, indicating that it is protected against water splashed from all directions and larger solid objects.
For more information, check out our guide to IP ratings for lighting.
Where To Place Your Outdoor Wall Lights
Where you place your outdoor wall-mounted lights will depend on the type of lights you purchase. A rule of thumb is to place your lights high enough on the wall so that they don’t dazzle you as they turn on.
The key is to find the best outdoor wall light for each scenario, for example, a lantern creates a perfect ambient light for a front door, but a bright spotlight would be better suited to illuminating a back garden for security.
Regardless of what you’re looking for, at Outdoor & Garden Lighting Centre, we stock a wide range of designs and choices to create functional and beautiful exterior lighting.
